"Asymmetric Investing"

Mark is a global industry analyst and portfolio manager at Wellington Management. His portfolio management responsibilities include two global hedge funds, global finance sector portfolios, and multi-asset strategies, which focus on opportunistic exposure to top-down themes. He has spent over 28 years analyzing and investing in capital markets, initially focusing on US and international banks and later broadening his investments to global equities and commodities. He is also the sector team leader for the Finance Team in Global Industry Research.

Mark was recognized by Reuters as one of the top analysts covering any sector in 1999 and named as one of the two best regional bank analysts by American Banker, a daily banking newspaper, in 1994. Starting in 1989 and continuing for four consecutive years, Institutional Investor named him one of its "All Stars" in its annual poll of institutional investors.

Prior to joining the firm in 1994, Mark analyzed banks at Lehman Brothers (1992-1994) and at Bear Stearns (1986-1992). Prior to that, he was a research analyst at Value Line, Inc., covering banks, thrifts, food companies, electrical equipment firms, and retailers (1984-1986).

Mark received his AB in European history, magna cum laude, from Harvard College (1982). He is on the board of directors of the Boston BancAnalysts Association and is a former board member of the national Bank Financial Analysts Association.
