Private Equity: Philosophy, Governance, and Expected Returns - Past, Present and Future

George W. Siguler is a Founding Partner of Siguler Guff, a global private equity investment firm with over $10.0 billion of assets under management. He is responsible for directing Siguler Guff's private equity investment strategy and is the firm's Chief Investment Officer. Prior to founding Siguler Guff, Mr. Siguler was a Managing Director and head of PaineWebbers's Private Equity Group. Mr. Siguler served in the Reagan Administration as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He was a Founding Partner of the Harvard Management Company and also served as Associate Treasurer of Harvard University.                                              

Mr. Siguler currently serves on the Board of Directors of MSCI, the Pension Advisory Committee of the International Monetary Fund and the Board of Advisors of Johns Hopkins University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. He is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Hoover Institute at Stanford University, a Director of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association and a Non-Executive Director of Pregin. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Center for Asian Pacific Policy at the RAND Corporation and a member of RAND's U.S. - Russia Business Leaders Forum. Mr. Siguler holds an A.B. from Amherst College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
