About the Speaker
Dr. Adewale Troutman identifies himself through his commitment to social justice, human rights, community activism, health equity and national and global health. He has a MD from New Jersey Medical School, a Masters in public health from Columbia University, a Masters in Black Studies from the State University of New York in Albany, and board certification from the National Board of Public Health Examiners. His experience also includes special consultancies in Thailand, Japan, Angola, Jamaica, Zaire, India and Austria. Dr. Troutman has had multiple publications and received numerous awards including the Ottenheimer Award for Social Justice. He is featured in the nationally televised PBS series, "Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?" Dr. Troutman is a member of the Health and Human Services Secretary's Advisory Committee on Infant Mortality, and he will become President of the American Public Health Association (APHA) in 2014.
