Nature photographer and committed environmental preservationist Michael Hogan will lead us on a tour of Lake Worth, a 49 acre park located in Lindenwold, on the Trout Run tributary of the Big Timber Creek. Interesting plants found here include many kinds of native, grass like plants and native orchids including pink lady's slipper, ragged fringed, green woodlands, and nodding lady's tress orchids.
Once a popular swimming lake, Lake Worth Park has been preserved for open space by Camden County. The park has a rich diversity and mix of Pinelands and Delaware River watershed plants. The park also contains one of the few remaining stands of Atlantic white cedar found on the Big Timber Creek watershed.
Meet at the Gazebo where Mike will host a brief talk followed by a walk around the park and showing us the indigenous plants.
This event is hosted by the Garden Task Force.
