Writers Studio Scholarship Fundraiser

ACC Writers Studio Presents Women Write The Rockies and Beyond: A Celebration of International Women’s Day:  a poetry and fiction reading exploring cultural identity and social awareness. Arapahoe Community College Main Campus in the Half Moon on Thursday March 10 from 5:30p.m.-8:30p.m. A “Meet the Writers” hors d'oeuvres reception and silent auction fundraiser precede the reading, starting at 5:30 p.m.  Reading begins shortly before 6:30 p.m. Book signing and book sale after the reading.

In the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, a collective of women’s voices in celebration of International Women’s Day explore cultural identity and social awareness in the 21st century. Acclaimed writers share their stories and poems on the “writing walls” of Chinese immigrants detained at Angel Island, warscapes and their healers and caregivers, tenderness and poverty at the borderlines, spirituality and the survivors of domestic violence, and the “rocky canyons” of the heart. Join writers Elisabeth Hyde, Sheryl Luna, Rita Brady Kiefer, Marilyn Krysl, and Teow Lim Goh for a discussion and reading of their work.

ACC Writers Studio sponsors a $500 Writers Studio Scholarship for talented young students pursuing their dreams in creative writing. All proceeds for the reading, reception, and silent auction will go to our Writers Studio Scholarship  All proceeds and donations for the Writers Studio Scholarship will be matched up to $1000. Suggested donation for admission:  $12 to the Writers Studio Scholarship fund by March 7 midnight. $15 at the door. Special admission price for students: $8
