Scottie Orenstein
Lowndes Co. Commissioner District 2

Commissioner Scott “Scottie” Orenstein is a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. He is a 1987 graduate of Valdosta High School. After high school, Commissioner Orenstein attended Valdosta Technical College to study drafting. He went on to attend Valdosta State University. From 1992 to 1997 Commissioner Orenstein was employed by Valdosta State Prison, where he held many positions, including: Hostage Negotiator, Firearm/Training Officer, and Operations Analyst. Since 1997, he has been a Licensed General Contractor/President of a family owned small business, currently known as South Georgia Construction & Consulting. 

Commissioner Orenstein believes Community involvement is important. He is an active member of the Home Builders Association (HBA) of South Georgia and was the HBA president in 2007. Commissioner Orenstein has been a member of the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Foundation Board since 2007. He is a 2008 graduate of Leadership Lowndes and became president of the organization in 2012. Commissioner Orenstein was a 2010 member of the Inaugural Class of City Government 101(Valdosta). He was also a recipient of the Emerging Leader award in 2010. From 2007 to 2014 Commissioner Orenstein served as Vice Chairman of the Valdosta/Lowndes County Zoning Board of Appeals.  He is a current member of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce and CrossPoint Church.
