Great Intakes for Birth Doulas: The Questionnaire
Your intake prenatal with birth doula clients sets the tone for the whole trajectory of your time working together. Most clients arrive with a mixture of excitement and anxiety- not only about the birth, but about working with you! An excellent intake appointment will reassure them that you are a caring, knowledgeable and respectful guide. Set the foundation by asking the right questions early on, and you will quickly get to the heart of the issues that matter most to them.
Several years ago, I began sending an intake questionnaire (70 questions after the name/phone/EDD section!) to clients once they’d hired me, after the consultation. Ideally they complete it before we meet for the intake appointment. Their answers give me a huge boost in getting to know their perspective, past, values, and hopes.
In this 90-minute webinar, we’ll cover at least 7 of the key questions on my intake paperwork. I’ll teach you why I ask, and how I respond, and resources I share. You’ll receive a PDF and Word document of my Questionnaire that you can customize for use in your own practice.
