Community Engagement and Student Success:
Supporting Students in the Early Years

About the Forum
From first year seminars and scholarship programs to residential learning and senior capstones, a variety of mechanisms exist that are aimed at increasing student success in college.   Many of these high impact practices have also been combined with community engagement to further increase their impact.  The 2014 Engaged Campus forum will focus on the current evidence and practices that connect student success in college with engagement practices, with a focus on how engagement can be meaningfully interwoven into the early college experience.  A panel of innovators will discuss programs their campuses have created (or are creating) that combine community engagement with goals around retention and student achievement; we'll focus on understanding the impact of these programs as well as asking new questions about how we are measuring our success
