What: This is a hands-on clinic where you will learn how to process your own broiler chicken. Two qualified instructors and Dot Perkins from the UNH Corporate Extension will provide hands-on, step by step instructions on how to process a chicken. You will go home with a broiler ready to cook or freeze.
There are 12 spots chicken processing spots. Each processer can bring one partner to take notes, ask questions and assist the processer. Because of the equipment used in processing chickens all participants must be 18 years or older.
You will leave with the knowledge of how to process your own chicken AND your very own fresh processed broiler.
What you will need to bring: Bring your own knives (sharp 4”-6” blades), chicken shears (optional), ice and a cooler (to bring your broiler home in). Quart size bags if you want to bring home livers, hearts, etc. Jumbo Zip Lock bags will be available or you can bring your own.
The workshop will be outside so dress accordingly - we will have easy ups set up if it rains or for hot weather & some folding chairs set up.
Cost: The cost is $35 for processing and $5 for additional attendee. Payment must be made in advance. Please make your check out to the Loudon Agriculture Commission and send it to:
