DHE Academy  

Please join us for our Continuing Education Academy series. Attend monthly alternating lecture and hands-on academy sessions to earn up to 28 CE credits, gain experience and become certified in the DHEmethod!  

*July 7th: The Oral- Systemic Practice. Introduction to the oral systemic practice model.  Our featured speaker, Dr. Eric Goulder will present on the inflammatory burden and the key role hygienist play in the prevention of heart attacks and stokes.  He will introduce the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Centeral Ohio.   Case: Participants will take newly learned material and apply it to case led by particpants interactive roundtables.

*August 11th: Learn how to take the knowledge of the oral systemic connections and integrate into everyday practice.  Will be practicing PH, inflammatory, sleep, glucose, blood and saliva testing, as well as introducing the focus sheet for a patient centered visits. Colleagues will have the opportunity to test themselves to later use as their case review and presentation.

*September 8th:  Lecture will be covering DHEmethods steps 1-3.  Phone interview value, insurance breakdown for code utilization, and effective morning huddle strategies. Case: Round table how to efficiently integrate steps 1-3 using mock phone interview, insurance form and morning huddle presentation.

*October 13th: Participants will bring a case to break down into the first 3 steps of the DHEmethod and then work up a mock morning huddle.  Case presentation and acceptance will begin in this session on case prediction and time management skills.

*November 3rd: Lecture on step 4 the "WOW" exam.  Learn fundamental principles of communication & time management on how to integrate the oral systemic model and stay on time! Case: Roundtable identifying & integrating sleep, orthodontics, endo, systemic, perio, and overall wellness.

* December 1st: Hands on session will review time study sheets, video presentations, work up and practice communication strategies in executing the "WOW" exam. Colleagues will team up together and present their efficiencies learned in earlier sessions.

*January 5th: Lecture on Step 5 Hygiene Classification!  Learn the AAP classification system based on a full charting, gingival margin and clinical attachment levels.  Case: Roundtable classification of perio charts, and how testing can have a huge impact on treatment and diagnosis.

*February 2nd:  Practice on your colleagues!  From charting gingival margin to utilizing in-depth modern screening tools to provide personal periodontal medicine.  Review your charts and tests from saliva and blood testing to sleep and inflammatory genetic panels.  Colleagues will team up and present case challenges and light bulb moments.

*March 2nd: Lecture series on step 6 in creating personalized hygiene treatment plans.  Discussion will be focused on levels of treatment, new emerging products, and 5 tip therapy.  Case: Roundtable creating hygiene treatment plans, utilizing best in practice communication principles.

*April 6th: Hands on academy series will be in-depth mastering treatment plan presentations, practicing 5 tip therapy, and reviewing hot new trends in products.  Colleagues will team up and demonstrate new hand skills and communication techniques they have learned. Colleagues will also have the opportunity as well to dive deep into their personalized tests, reviewing their individual cases learning amongst each other.

*May 4th: Lecture series on DHEmethods steps 7-9.  Hygiene led exam including restorative & comprehensive treatment plans. Case: Focus for roundtables on techniques in restorative presentation.  Collaboration on best communication strategies for case acceptance. 

*June 1st: Hands on academy series will focus on precise execution of fundamental principles of both restorative presentations and excellent leadership skills in providing a hygiene led exam. This session will be geared towards the restorative laminate and effective communication.  Colleagues will collaborate and put together the most efficient exam on video.

*July 6th: Lecture series on DHEmethods steps 10-14 from the handoff to financials and scheduling, what fundamentals do hygienists need to know? We will review these principles and learn insider techniques.  Case: Roundtable collaboration on communication to handoff between clinical and administrative, plus creating the ideal schedule for maximum efficiencies in hygiene.

*August 3rd: Certification:  Here colleagues will present their final case for certification by demonstrating the DHEmethod steps 1-14.  They will have an opportunity to hear and learn from their outstanding colleagues who have completed the program with them.
