NGSS 101 - Learning the Basics (K-12) (6810)

Explore how to navigate the Next Generation Science Standards with hands-on experiences!  Introductory activities will be used to explore the shifts and deepen your understanding from the 1998 standards to the NGSS performance expectations. The three dimensions of NGSS include the Science and Engineering Practices, Disciplinary Core Ideas and Cross Cutting Concepts.  These three dimensions will be experienced as they relate to classroom lessons and instruction that you can begin using immediately.
How can you see what your students are thinking? Learn about the predictive NGSS tool of modeling.  Modeling represents ideas and explanations and is one of the new Science and Engineering Practices.  Come explore modeling tools such as diagrams, drawings, etc.  Walk away with strategies you can begin using immediately in your classroom.
