Kids can start programming in elementary school! Scratch is a programming language designed by MIT to allow for graphical coding. It is still an object oriented programming language capable to doing all sorts of computer tasks. Possible the most interesting one for kids: designing video games. Students will program cartoon animations, improve classic video games, make pinball machines and design their own toys. It will be a fast paced introduction to the world of computer science and electrical engineering.
Daily Schedue
The camp will begin at 9:00 AM daily in the Harmony Grove Lab in the Wentworth Education Center at the San Joaquin County Office of Education. Students will be provided an electronic device to use both days. Camp is over each day at 2:00 PM.
Lunch Break
There will be a 30-minute lunch break each day. Lunch will be provided for the students by a local caterer. If your student has specific allergies or dietary restrictions, they can bring their own sack lunch, refrigeration is available.
What to Bring
Students should just bring themselves, but be prepared to have a sweater in case the air conditioning makes them a little chilly.
Behavior Issues
This is an enrichment activity and any behavior issues will result in immediate dismissal and removal from the course with no refunds provided.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Required docuements will be sent via email to the parent/guardian email listed above. Each form will need to be filled out, signed, and brought to the first day of camp - June 6th. Please arrive a few minutes early to process all paperwork.
Cancellation Policy: If the course is canceled by SJCOE, registrants will be notified in advance and will obtain a full refund. No refunds will be given for participant cancellations.
