Second Annual H20 Hackathon / March 25, 2017

Hosted By:  The San Joaquin County Office of Education, iHub San Joaquin, and IBM Bluemix

Who:  San Joaquin County students and teachers - come be a part of this exciting 12-hour app development contest!  Only 20-teams will be selected.  Each team consists of one high school teacher and four high school students.  Get your team together, create a team name, and apply today.  The application process will close December 5, 2016.

Training:  Teachers must attend an IBM Bluemix app training  on December 10, 2016 at the San Joaquin County Office of Education from 9am-2:30pm.  Lunch will be provided.

Preparation:  Teachers will be trained by IBM Bluemix.  Teams will be provided with three water based challenges that we face in California today.  The team will be responsible for its own research and team preparation time.  On the day of the H2O Hackathon, the team will be notified which water challenge they are being assigned. Creat an app to solve a current water solution - convince the judges yours is the best - and WIN!

Fees and Winnings:  Each team must pay an application fee of $100.  (Financial help available if needed.)  Breakfast snacks, lunch, and dinner will all be provided to the participants.  Additional family and community members will be invited to join a dessert awards reception and ceremony at the end of the day.  And don't forget about the free t-shirts, grab bags, and cash prizes to the top winning teams. Top award winner will receive the CALIFORNIA WATER SERVICE sponsored GOLDEN SPIGOT AWARD of $3,000!
