The 16th Annual Winter Trails Day offers children and adults brand new to snow sports the chance to try snowshoeing and cross country skiing for free, and to discover the great fitness and social benefits with these easy-to-learn winter sports.
Winter Trails Day involves almost 100 resorts and Nordic Centers nationwide, and gets 11,000 kids and adults on the snow each year.
Folks who have never cross country skied or snowshoed can come out to Minocqua Winter Park between the hours of noon and 5pm and get a free ski or snowshoe trail pass. The first 10 people who have registered and show up by 1pm also get free rental equipment (as long as ten sets of gear are still available that day - we never know how much equipment will be rented on a given day).
After you've tried skiing or snowshoeing, stick around for the afternoon/evening's snow tubing session which runs from 3pm - 9pm ($7 per person includes snow tube rental)
