South Bay "ROAR!" Movie Musical Auditions!

The Gilroy Children’s Musical Theater (GCMT) seeks local youth ages 5-25 to star in “ROAR!”, the all singing, all dancing, roaring 1920’s black and white movie musical! Celebrate the razzle dazzle of Hollywood’s golden era in this unique Bay Area cinema extravaganza. “ROAR!” offers a variety of singing, dancing and speaking roles.

FAMILY FUN: In addition to featuring local youth, we will also provide opportunities for your family to take part in the fun by featuring a few musical numbers with parents/guardians and baby siblings!

EASY COMMITMENT: Our convenient 11-week program, with one 1.5 hour Thursday rehearsal per week in Morgan Hill, makes participating fun and easy for busy Bay Area families. Ages: 5-8: 4-5:30pm, Ages: 9-11, 5:30-7pm, Ages: 12-25, 7-8:30pm.  September 6th - November 15th. Plus 3 Sunday's (Nov 4th, 11th and 18th for filming)

DAZZLING COSTUMES: Each cast member will wear a sparkly, elaborate 1920’s style costume. In order to really capture the glitz of the era, we’ll use lots of sequins, rhinestones, feathers, baubles, bangles, and beads!

THE BIG PICTURE: Work on a green screen movie set, as well as on location, with 152 West Productions, then see yourself on the silver screen when “ROAR!” premieres at the Castro Theatre, San Francisco’s elaborate and historic 1400 seat movie palace built in 1922. The interior takes you back in time with its luxurious and ornate decor, and a dramatic “Mighty Wurlitzer” pipe organ will entertain your family and friends prior to the screening. Based on the number of South County participants, additional screenings may be offered in Morgan Hill and the South Bay.

PREPARE FOR AUDITIONS: Prepare to sing 16 bars (around 45 seconds) of any song (without music). Select a dynamic song that really shows off your personality, sense of humor and voice! We like big and bold songs. Be sure to decide on a song before the audition. Even if it’s “Happy Birthday”, be ready to sing it with confidence. Make that first impression count, by giving it your all.
