9/20/19 School Psych Cadre - Disproportionality Representation

Speaker: Dr. Dan Florell

Target Audience:

School Psychologists, Diagnosticians, Directors of Special Education

High Leverage Practices:

1. Collaborate with professionals to increase student success.

Description:

School psychologists are asked to address a wide variety of student weaknesses. As student populations become more diverse, this becomes more challenging as assessments and the implementation of interventions must be culturally responsive. However, cultural responsiveness is a moving target and requires the consideration of many factors in order to reduce bias. This workshop will review the history of culturally responsive school services and the issue of disproportionality. It will then focus on how assessments and interventions can be implemented more effectively within a district.
