9-10-19 Great Instruction, Great Achievement with John O’Connor- No Fee

Target Audience: Principals, Assistant Principals, Curriculum Coaches, Instructional Supervisors, Directors of Special Education, General Education Teachers, Special Education Teachers

Description: Come hear tried and true initiatives for closing the achievement gaps within special education.  This session will provide administrators with information they need to develop effective programs.  Topics reviewed include research-based practices in reading instruction, mathematics , and behavior. In addition to that, he will address co-teaching models, sharing data and strategic planning.  John O’Connor has led school improvement initiatives at the state and local level during his 28 years in public education.  He started his career as a special education teacher serving students with orthopedic impairments and then held a variety of administrative positions. For nine years while working at  the Georgia Department of Education, he led state-wide initiatives to improve the achievement of students with disabilities.  He has also served in local districts as an Assistant Director for Special Education, Executive Director for Special Services, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services and Director for Interventions. John has written four books, including his most recent Great Instruction Great Achievement for Students with Disabilities: A Road Map for Special Education Administrators.  He has also co-written a textbook chapter, a  desk guide and numerous articles.  At his core, John is a teacher.

At CKSEC, we love kids and families! Unfortunately, due to liability issues and professional decorum, children and other family members or friends are not permitted to attend our trainings.

Please get permission from CKEC prior to video or audio recording a portion or all of a CKEC session. 

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.

Districts will be notified of those who registered and did not attend or did not cancel prior to be session.
