Advanced Cognitive Coaching (Parts 1 and 2) Six Days Total, $700 Fee for Member Districts including OVEC and SESC, $1500 Fee for Non Member Districts

Part 2: July 9th, 10th and 11th, 2019

Target Audience: Anyone who has completed the Cognitive Coaching (SM) Foundations Seminar  

Description:   

Cognitive Coaching Advanced Seminars provide refinement and depth of learning for those desiring to achieve expert proficiency in Cognitive CoachingSM and are highly supportive of those who wish to begin the pathway to becoming an in-district trainer.  By participating in this training, learners will:

  • Refine and extend core coaching capabilities and skills
  • Develop skills with advanced forms of paraphrasing and inquire to mediate the thinking of others
  • Expand the possibilities of and applications for identities as mediators
  • Frame personal coaching mastery as a journey, not a destination

Upon completion of Part 1, the learner will be able to: 

  • Explain the mission and goal of Cognitive CoachingSM
  • Demonstrate thorough and effective planning and reflecting conversations
  • Apply principles of paraphrasing in the context of planning and reflecting conversations
  • Apply elements of the invitation in asking mediative questions
  • Analyze questions for 6 domains of inquiry
  • Formulate paraphrases for accessing deep structure
  • Explain the components of deep structure
  • Relate brain research to coaching
  • Facilitate a calibrating conversation
  • Differentiate and make decisions about the four support functions

 

Advanced Cognitive Coaching Part 2 deepens and extends the learning from the Foundation Seminar®.  The course is targeted at principals, teachers, and instructional coaches.  Emphasis is on the problem-resolving conversation and skill with using the 5 States of Mind to invite Cognitive Shift.  Skill in pacing and leading is emphasized.

Upon completion of Part 2, the learner will be able to:

  • Conduct a four-step pace in less than three minutes
  • Demonstrate thorough and effective problem-resolving conversations
  • Apply advanced paraphrasing in the context of problem-resolving conversations
  • Demonstrate additional strategies for inviting cognitive shift
  • Mediate for deep structure
  • Explain how the tensions of holonomy affect individuals and groups
  • Explain how neurosciences inform coaching
  • Apply the outcome structure to a third party problem

At CKSEC, we love kids and families! Unfortunately, due to liability issues and professional decorum, children and other family members or friends are not permitted to attend our trainings.

Please get permission from CKEC prior to video or audio recording a portion or all of a CKEC session. 

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.

Districts will be notified of those who registered and did not attend or did not cancel prior to be session.
