Description:
This hands-on workshop will develop the conceptual foundations of addition and subtraction by using literature as the lens by which to enter into mathematics. Counting and cardinality, problem structures, number composition and more will be examined. The use of various tasks and activities to promote understanding and fluency will be shared and created. In addition, we will explore differentiation and formative assessment strategies related to building numeracy and number sense. Participants will leave with an action plan and resources to use in the classroom.
Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop.

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.
Attendance Policy:
If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.
