11-10-17 Supporting Specially Designed Instruction through Related Services

Speaker:  Laurie Ray,  MPT, PhD , North Carolina Department of Education 

Target Audience: Teams of School Based Therapists (PT, SLP, OT), Special Education Teachers, and Special Education Administrators 

Description: 

This interactive session will focus on collaborative IEP development and student data collection to assess and improve student function throughout the school day. Each team is required to bring a current IEP with progress and evaluation data to the workshop. Teams will explore and learn how to integrate goals and embed interventions into school routines.  

 

Session Objectives- Participants will be able to:

1.         Describe the difference between discipline-specific and integrated goals

2.         Understand the critical nature of student data in IEP development and collaboration

3.         Collaboratively develop a meaningful, measurable student goal.

4.         List considerations for individualizing least restrictive environment and service delivery.

5.         Develop a practical, sustainable data collection plan.

At CKSEC, we love kids and families! Unfortunately, due to liability issues and professional decorum, children and other family members or friends are not permitted to attend our trainings.

Please get permission from CKEC prior to video or audio recording a portion or all of a CKEC session. 

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.

Districts will be notified of those who registered and did not attend or did not cancel prior to be session.
