Description:
This one day workshop will provide participants with the tools to begin to implement the Positive Approach to Student Success (PASS) Program. The PASS program was founded on the belief that children with emotional and behavioral disabilities benefit behaviorally from educational experiences with non-disabled peers and academically from participation in the general curriculum. Designed by a behavior specialist and a licensed psychologist, PASS provides students with serious emotional disturbance individualized programming that incorporates “best practices” in serving youth with challenging behavior. Program methodology focuses on teaching/coaching students to behave appropriately in general education or resource classrooms with the help of a teacher trained as a Behavior Coach to support both general education teachers and students in a mainstream enviroment. This program assists with closing the achievement gap by having students obtain the core content from a highly qualified teacher, and support for social emotional challenges from a behavior coach. (The training fee is to cover the cost of training materials, if participants have the materials there is no fee for member and $50 for non-members).
