Positive Approach to Student Success (PASS)- 2- day Initial Implementation Training July 13 & 14

Speaker: Karen King & Crystal Ware

Target Audience:  School staff planning to implement PASS for the 2016-17 school year.  Newly hired staff for existing PASS programs. Teams are encouraged to attend: Principal, DoSE, PASS Teacher, PASS Para Educator, and a Gen Ed Teacher.

Description:   This two day workshop will provide participants with the tools to implement the Positive Approach to Student Success (PASS) Program.  The PASS program is founded on the belief that children with emotional and behavioral disabilities benefit behaviorally from educational experiences with non-disabled peers and academically from participation in the general curriculum. Designed by a behavior specialist and a licensed psychologist, PASS was developed to provide students with serious emotional disturbance individualized programming that incorporates “best practices” in serving youth with challenging behavior.  Program methodology focuses on teaching/coaching students to behave appropriately in general education or resource classrooms with the help of a teacher trained as a Behavior Coach to support both general education teachers and students in a mainstream classroom.  This program assists with closing the achievement gap by having students obtain the core content from a highly qualified teacher, and support for social emotional challenges from a behavior coach.
