Strategy To See: Strategies for Students with Cortical Visual Impairment $50 fee for all participants

Speaker: Diane Sheline

Target Audience: Teachers of the Visually Impaired, MSD Teachers, Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist.

Description:

Cortical or Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) is now the leading cause of visual impairment in children in the western world.  Children who have CVI have unique visual and learning needs.  They require specialized educational strategies and often, environmental adaptations.  Diane Sheline will be here on Dec. 14 and 15 to talk about identification of children with CVI, assessment tools to use, and simple techniques and strategies to use with children who have a diagnosis of CVI (or some other form of brain damage related vision loss).  Overall strategies will be discussed as she reviews her new book, Strategy to See; Strategies for Students with Cortical Visual Impairment.  Diane will also talk about how to adapt the environment and modify the presentation of materials, toys, and other learning items for this unique population.
