Target Audience: Elementary and Middle School Teachers, Interventionists, Instructional Coaches

Description: The focus of this session is to explore various strategies for multiplication and division of whole numbers.  Strategies based on place value and operations will be presented.  Some examples of various strategies include partial products, partial quotients, doubling and halving, and explicit trade. Additionally, the traditional algorithm will be developed from concrete models.  The focus will not only be on learning the strategies, but understanding why they work.  Along the way, misconceptions about multiplication and division will be addressed.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.
