Description:
The presentation will discuss text-based comprehension deficits indicative of children with language impairments as well as poor comprehenders in general. Metalinguistic and metacognitive skills critical to text comprehension will be discussed along with specific assessment and intervention strategies.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to
1. identify differences between narrative and expository text grammar
2. design assessments that capture specific comprehension deficits
3. select intervention techniques appropriate for treating identified comprehension deficits
