In this session, participants will learn how to administer and score a variety of formative assessments and use them to plan powerful Guided Reading lessons to accelerate students. Assessments include; Concepts about Print, Running Records, Phonics Screeners, SanDiego Quick Word Assessment and Oral Reading Fluency. Participants will also leave with instructional ideas and a better understanding of using assessments to set a focus for Guided Reading instruction, selecting correct teaching points and prompts, and planning for word work and vocabulary instruction in small groups. This session is designed for teachers that have an understanding of the foundational components of Guided Reading and are interested in improving their current small group instruction.
