Description:

Do your students struggle with the learning of algebra?  Algebra tiles are one way to help students make algebra more tangible.  This interactive workshop will lead participants through the use of algebra tiles as a means of understanding work with integers, expressions, equations, multiplying and factoring binomials, and completing the square on quadratics.  The importance of the concrete-representational-abstract (C-R-A) sequence of instruction will be highlighted.  Most of the session will focus on the concrete aspect of learning. However, some connections will be made to the semi-concrete (representational) and the abstract.
