Conceptual Building Blocks (Cohort 3) with Instructional Coaches Jan 29-30, Feb 26-27, & Mar 26-27

Speaker: Mark Helton

Target Audience:

Special Education and General Education teachers (grades K-5) AND District/School Instructional Coaches  (Teachers and coaches must come together as a team.)

Description:

The Conceptual Building Blocks (CBB) is a 3-module (6-day) cadre that focuses on building a strong conceptual foundation for mathematics.  Use of manipulatives and the concrete-representational-abstract sequence of teaching/learning are illuminated.  Other topics include: understanding student misconceptions, a better understanding of the KCAS, and multiple strategies for teaching the topics of Addition/Subtraction, Multiplication/Division, and Fractions.

This cohort of the CBB is for teachers AND instructional coaches.  All teachers must be accompanied by an instructional coach from the school or district.  (The same instructional coach may work with multiple teachers in the cadre.)  During parts of each module, the instructional coaches will discuss ways to help coach participants with the materials and strategies from the module.  The expectation is that the instructional coach will conduct a follow-up visit with the teacher(s) from their school/district after each module training.

Teachers and coaches must sign up for ALL 6 days of the cadre.

**Due to the need to order materials, registration for this cadre closes on December 20, 2013.
