Do you supervise caregivers or other team members who provide direct care, or do you support to individuals living with dementia?
This program is designed for anyone who supervises caregivers or other team members providing direct care or support to individuals living with dementia. If your goal is to help people change their behavior towards individuals with dementia, this training is for you.
Professionals who may benefit from this training include Memory Care Program Directors, Resident Care Directors, CNAs and Social Workers in leadership positions, Staff Education Directors, Adult Day Program Directors, Executive Directors.
PAC Coach Certification class size is an intimate, skill-building event.
Thus it is limited to 25 participants in each location.
COURSE OVERVIEW
1. PRE-COURSE WORK. The following work must be completed before attending the onsite workshop:
Day 1: Positive Care Skills Review and Practice / 8:30am - 5:00pm.A Lead PAC Mentor guides the review and practice of effective partnering techniques, including Positive Physical Approach™ and Hand-under-Hand™. Though an intense and interactive process of mentoring and self-review, you will gain the skills needed to help your team members shift from simply dealing with the behaviors of those they care for, to creating a positive and caring environment.
Day 2: Becoming an Effective Coach and Leader / 8:00am - 5:00pm. Teepa Snow and the PAC Mentor team provides an in-depth look into the elements of effective coaching. These elements include: 1) Considering how your actions and intentions come across to those around you; 2) Learning to provide non-judgemental feedback, using questioning techniques to help others identify solutions and actions; and 3) Learning to apply new techniques to improve outcomes and foster accountability among team members
3. POST-WORKSHOP FOLLOW UP. Following the workshop, participants work one-on-one with a PAC Mentor to complete certification:PAC knows that unless we practice, new knoweldge and skill will not become habits. PAC Coach follow up is designed to help you drill the skills into habits, and help you learn how to self-assess for future growth. This requires timely follow-up and completion of multiple steps within an eight week period. Learners become certified after successfully completing all follow up requirements. The individual must demonstrate a solid understanding of material, PAC Care partnering skills, and coaching skills.

PAC Certified Independent Coaches are encouraged to annually document and demonstrate continued competence in order to maintain certification. Annual Re-Certification Fee is $150. Coaches are required to participate in continuing education through webinars provided by Teepa Snow and/or PAC Mentors, as well as demonstrate continued competence in order to maintain certification.
Continuing Education credit for this program is awarded by Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) for the following professions:
Nurses: As an American Psychological Association approved provider CES programs are accepted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Every state Board of Nursing accepts ANCC approved programs except California and Iowa, however CES is also an approved Continuing Education provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing, (Provider Number CEP15567) which is also accepted by the Iowa Board of Nursing. Nurses completing this program receive 14.0 CE hours of credit.
Social Workers: CES, provider #1117, is approved as a Provider for Social Work Continuing Education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. CES maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 10/5/15 through 10/5/18. Social Workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. Social Workers participating in this course will receive 14.0 clinical continuing education clock hours.
