PAC Trainer Certification - Denver, CO

 

This certification is designed for individuals who wish to train others in Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care (PAC) philosophy, providing dementia related awareness, knowledge, and skill development in a classroom, community, or support group setting.  Certified PAC Trainers will be equipped to provide accurate, relevant, and helpful content in short training segments. Trainers will be provided several "training kits" which include a training outline, DVD footage, handouts, approved marketing collateral, and CEU application guidelines.

  • PAC Trainer Certification class size is limited to 20 participants in each location. 
  • Training will be facilitated by Teepa Snow and a PAC Care Coach. 

 Qualifications for registration:

  • A college degree from an accredited college
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a health related field
  • Minimum of 1 year dementia related experience

Pre-training curriculum (provided after acceptance to the training program):  

  • 6 hours of documented video training
  • Participation in a Teepa Snow training event in the past 24 months
  • Review of designated video clips featuring facilitation techniques
  • Successful completions of assessments related to video training

In person training in designated city:

  • Participants are required to attend an 8 hour classroom training.
  • During the training, participants will actively work on mastering content and facilitation/ training techniques. 

Post-training requirements:

  • Within 2 months of classroom training, participants must facilitate and record segments of a training session to demonstrate personal skill level. 
  • A PAC Care Coach will review the recorded session and provide feedback. 

Learners become certified after successfully completing all training requirements. Skill demonstration is part of the process, where the individual demonstrates the use of the PAC skills, facilitation skills, and the ability to actively engage  learners. Once certified, the PAC trainer is authorized to use PAC training materials to train others in the PAC philosophy.

A Trainer Agreement and PAC Education License will be made available to all trainees outlining how the provided materials may be used and the necessary requirements to maintain certficiation year to year.   

Note: This Certification is not intended to generate income for the trainer. The Certification is intended to supplement trainer knowledge and enhance credibility. It is acknowledgement that the trainer has the experience, knowledge, and skills to train others in the PAC philosophy as it relates to dementia.

Training and Certification Fee of $1,500 includes:

  • Pre-work videos (6 hours) and materials
  • Training notebook with presentation and classroom materials
  • 8 hours of classroom training, facilitated by Teepa Snow and PAC Care Coach
  • Post training follow up and coaching from PAC Care Coach
  • PAC Trainer Certificate  
  • Posting as a Certified PAC Trainer on the Positive Approach website

 Annual Re-Certification Fee is $150:

Trainers are required to annually document and demonstrate continued competence in order to maintain certification. Details will be provided upon registration.
