2014 Annual Holiday Celebration, Decorating Contest and Open House 

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 26TH

The perfect opportunity to bring more traffic into your business, show your holiday spirit and win and award for your creativity!

THE DECORATING CONTEST:  

• This will take place ONE DAY ONLY during the Holiday Celebration and Open House.  Thursday, December 4th.  
• The community will be the judges
• You are asked to decorate a tree.  You may decorate your whole business, but the community will be judging your tree.
• Trees should be decorated by Wednesday, December 3rd.
• Be creative!  Have fun!  
• You will be provided with ballots and maps to hand out to the community as well as a ballot box.

THE HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE:

• This will be Thursday, December 4th from 4 - 8 p.m.
• Participating businesses will need to provide one gift to be given away as a drawing for all community members that visit your business during the open house and come to judge your tree.
• Community that visit your business will receive one entry into a drawing to be held for your gift for coming into your business.  If they make a purchase, schedule an appointment (or whatever is appropriate for your business) during their visit, they will get a total of 5 entries into the drawing for your gift.
• If they visit all participating businesses during the open house they will be entered into a drawing for $100 Cash!

These events will be advertised by both the McKinleyville Shopping Center and the chamber.  In order to make it a success for all we recommend:

• hand out flyers (provide by the chamber) to all customers prior to the event
• share the event on your website and in social media
• have beverages and snacks to hand out during the open house
• have carolers, musicians, performers etc. be creative
• tell everyone you see about the event

All applicants will receive flyers, ballots/maps, ballot box and be mentioned in advertising and posts, as well as receive coaching from the Chamber.
