Social Emotional Learning for Life, part of an ongoing educational workshop series hosted by We Are Warren and Eastern Ohio Education Partnership (EOEP) will be held January 11 from 8:30 a.m - 11:30 a.m. at the Warren City Schools Administration Building, 105 High Street. Light refreshments will be served.
Join Jill Merolla, Warren City Schools Social Emotional Learning Director, and Supervisor of Community Outreach and Grant Development, as she shares with area community and non-profit leaders the importance of teaching other adults and youth how to govern emotions and defuse conflict for educational and life-long success.
“Strong communication skills are at the heart of social and emotional learning strategies, and how we choose to use those skills is extremely important,” explains Ms. Merolla. “Respect and peaceful resolution ensure our students remain on task, improve performance, and maintain good behaviors.”
Adult Social Emotional Learning is the key to building relationships and teaching social skills to young people. This professional development opportunity will inform participants about basic SEL competencies and provide individual/team time to reflect on our own social skills and how to strengthen them so we can relate more productively with the youth in our care.
