Section 8 Training: 1/2 Day Seminar September 13, 2016

There have been a lot of changes in the industry since Christine and her staff conducted Management Occupancy Reviews (MORs). HUD is trying to implement a plan to allow the remaining 42 PBCA’s that have been on hold due to the contract litigation begin to conduct MORs again. During the training Christine wants to familiarize Owners/Management agents of some of the major regulation changes that HUD has implemented so they are prepared once Rhode Island Housing resumes MORs.

Christine Smith has been working at Rhode Island Housing for the past seven years. Her current role as a Contract Administrator Supervisor is for her and her staff to oversee a portfolio of 179 project-based section 8 developments, and ensure that Owners/Management Agents remain in compliance with HUD rules and regulations. She has also gained valuable experience during her career while working on site as an Assistant Property Manager in both Rhode Island and New York.

Christine earned an Associate’s degree in Business Management from Bristol Community College, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Roger Williams University. Christine has also expanded her knowledge within the industry by obtaining the following certifications:  Assistant Housing Manager (AHM), Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS), Accredited Residential Manager (ARM®), Section 8 HCV Rent Calculation Specialist, HCV Housing Quality Standards, and a Hearing Officer Specialist.
