The Challenges and Threats
of Cyber Warfare
The threat of cyber warfare has replaced terrorism as the nation's number one threat according to John Brennan, the new Director of the CIA. The interlocking threats of cyber-crime, cyber-spying, and cyber-warfare have created new frontiers for national defense and both domestic and international law.
To deal with these combined threats the Pentagon has created a new Cyber Command to confront digital-age threats in what may be becoming an era of cyber cold war. Where is the line separating cyber attacks from a traditional act of war? What is the commensurate response? And who decides?
Few are more qualified to deal with these emerging questions than Dr. Lawrence Husick. Dr. Husick has over thirty years of experience as a technology consultant, computer system designer, and intellectual property rights lawyer. He is a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, a partner in an intellectual property law firm in Pennsylvania, and an adjunct faculty member at Johns Hopkins University. He is currently writing a book about evolving cyberthreats.
