Challenges of the 21st Century and the Future of U.S. Super Power Status

The United States begins a new year with old challenges and no doubt some new ones that are not yet on the horizon.  Do multiple crises, emerging peer competitors, and regional rivalries challenge U.S. hegemony or simply make us more dependent on allies and cooperative security?  Can or should we attempt to remain the world’s only super power or do the foreign policy challenges of the 21st Century and a protracted fiscal crisis at home require rethinking our global commitments?  Are we a nation in decline or first among equals?   Dr. Bruce Jentleson will discuss these issues and the most critical challenges confronting American foreign policy.
