Equity: Together We Can Achieve It
This free workshop is offered by the
Texas Health and Human Services Commission
Center for Elimination of Disproportionality and Disparities
and is being hosted by the East Texas Human Needs Network
"Equity: Together We Can Achieve It!" workshop objectives:
- Participants will identify and recognize the existence of systemic racial inequities within health and human services.
- Participants will examine how they play a role in perpetuating practices that lead to inequitable outcomes within systems.
3. Participants will identify strategies to address the causes of systemic racial inequities.
In addition, this interactive workshop provides an opportunity for participants to:
- Define and understand race and ethnicity, systemic racial inequities, and share local data.
- Examine the impact of historical and current policies and laws that effect disproportionate and disparate outcomes for individuals served in our systems.
- Collaborate with other professionals, community members and leaders as well as others interested in improving service delivery to learn more about these issues in a non-threatening, productive environment.
- Identify tangible ways of working differently to address systemic inequities using concrete tools that can be infused in programs and service delivery.
