Calamity at the Redwood Saloon

The year is 1880 and the Calaveras Big Trees Grove is bustling with raucous, good fun.

The Mammoth Grove Hotel is now almost 20 years old. A big party is being planned at the Redwood Saloon and rich aromas of campfire chili and apple cobbler are making everyone hungry. The gaming tables are ready to roll, music is playing and an assortment of famous characters, some unsavory, are milling about. The prim and proper society ladies are dressed for the event, enjoying their bits of gossip, when in walk the famous Virginia City Dancehall Girls with their notorious madam. The stage is set for calamity, that’s for sure! In the following hours there will be at least one accusation of cheating at cards, melodrama between the society ladies and the dance hall girls, a series of mysterious thefts and last, but not least, that crazy snake oil salesman keeps promising to fix everyone’s health problems. It should be a wild and crazy evening! 

 As a way of thanking our many local sponsors for their support of our event, we are once again playing the  Sponsor Points Game.  We hope to encourage you to shop locally and to visit our many sponsors and thank them yourself.  To thank you for your efforts, for each sponsor you visit, you will receive a point.   At the dinner, you will receive a raffle ticket for each sponsor you visited for great prizes donated by our local sponsors.  You will also be rewarded with a small token of our appreciation for visiting our sponsors at the dinner.

As there is gambling, we must restrict this event to Adults Only.  Costumes of the day are encouraged!

The fun begins at 5:30 with refreshments and music Dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.
