About the Event
Join the MaineHealth Innovation Center and The Roux Institute at Northeastern University for the next Innovation Blender event on Thursday, October 14th from 12:00 – 1:00pm featuring Maine Medical Center Nurse Practitioner, Theresa Roelke, APRN-AGPCNP. Theresa is working on an innovative 3D patient education tool. Theresa’s tool was first used in the Maine Medical Center Thoracic Oncology Clinic during lung screening shared-decision-making consults. As the pandemic led to increased use of telehealth, expanding this education tool for use in lung screening virtual consults was a natural transition. Using a visual tool, patients are engaged through experiential learning and are more likely to take ownership to become good stewards of their lung and overall health. In recognition of the patient education tool's role in improving access, quality and value in cancer care delivery, Theresa received a national innovation award from the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) in May 2020.
Join Theresa in brainstorming and answer the following questions: "What other clinical areas should we create these patient education tools for?"Presenter
