In collaboration with local author, Kwame Alexander, Arts Herndon presents the first Arts Herndon Children’s Literary Festival.  Kwame Alexander founded the Capital BookFest in 2005, which brings thousands of people year after year to the various locations that it takes place in.  The Arts Herndon Children's Literary Festival will feature readings, panels, storytelling, and exhibitors for this one day literary event! 

Celebrating literature and promoting literacy in our community is our goal. 

Highlights

-        Original programming in addition to traditional readings.

-        Panels and author conversations, featuring adult and teen authors.

-        Partial funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

-        Outdoor Festival in Historic Herndon, Virginia

-        Featuring food, live entertainment, authors and Artisans.

-        Participants can purchase books, illustrations, specialty artwork, and gifts

-        Sunday, October 7, 2018; 11am – 4pm

-        Free Admission to the public. All day strolling entertainment.

-        Attendance estimated at 1,000.

Vendor Hours:

-        Vendors must check in by 9:30am.

-        Must be ready and open by 11am.

-        All vendors are required to stop serving by 4pm.

-        Ready to vacate by 5pm. (Includes Trash Removal).

-        Festival will run rain or shine.

-        If Vendor leaves early Arts Herndon reserves the right to dismiss vendor without refunding any and all fees, etc.

Booth and Restrictions:

-        Vendor is limited to space provided and agrees not to infringe on non-reserved space.

-        Vendor is granted permission to sell branded items within an appropriate nature. Do not include inappropriate graphics and/or text.  All items to be sold must be pre-approved by Arts Herndon.

-        Vendor’s must provide an appropriately decorated booth from which to conduct sales. 

-        Exhibitors must understand that all work to be sold must be original, handcrafted, manufactured and executed by the exhibitor.

-        A chair and table will be provided. Exhibitors will need to provide all other materials/equipment for set-up (tents, backdrops, etc.).

-        Set-up and Break-down: Vendors are responsible for providing their own set-up and break-down. Since the Festival will be held as scheduled, regardless of weather, vendors should come prepared to protect themselves against the elements.

Finances:

-        Booth Fees: Refer to Arts & Crafts Vendor Application - $55

-        Sales Tax: All vendors are required to pay the VA state sales tax on all sales made at the Festival to the Commonwealth of Virginia.

-        Failure to adhere to these regulations will jeopardize participation in this event and future festivals.
