Basic Fundamentals of drawing will be taught and demonstrated, to include the principal application of contour line, gesture and shade while performing exercises in drawing from life. The primary goal is for the student to achieve an understanding of how to apply the basics of drawing toward a final, encompassing all aspects of learned techniques experienced during the 8 week course.

About the instructor

John Koebert is a draftman and painter. He has a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Fine Arts from Bridgewater University and has worked as an instructor at the Virginia Technology Extension and the Fairfax Center for Adult Education for over 30 years.

 

Class Policies:

Late Registration:

• Late class registrations are accepted at the discretion of the instructor if space is available with no fee reduction.

Class cancellations:

• The instructor reserves the right to cancel any class, workshop, or camp that does not meet minimum enrollment.  If your class is cancelled, you will be notified by the instructor.

Inclement Weather Policy:

• Decisions on cancellations due to weather will be made two hours prior to the start of class and communicated by the instructor. 
• In the event of inclement weather, please contact your instructor for information on whether the class will be held.

Make-up Policy:

• Classes cancelled by the instructor due to weather or other emergency will be rescheduled as the calendar allows.  Credits will not be issued to participants who are unable to attend the make-up class. 

Refunds:  

• Refunds will be given at the discretion of ArtSpace Herndon.
• If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, ArtSpace Herndon will refund the full registration amount.
• For all other reasons, the amount of a refund, if given, will depend on whether the class meets minimum enrollment after the cancellation, the timing of the request relative to the start of the class, the number of classes remaining, and will be less the administrative fee of $25.00.
• Any requests for class refunds should be made in writing (letter or email) no later than two weeks prior to the first day of the class.  A $25 administrative fee will be charged.
• Refund requests should be sent to ArtSpace Herndon by email at exhibits@artspaceherndon.com or regular mail to ArtSpace Herndon, PO Box 940, Herndon, VA 20172. 
• Please call 703-956-6590 to alert ArtSpace Herndon that you are requesting a refund.

The following activities are NOT permitted at ArtSpace Herndon:

• Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the facility. 
• Boisterous behavior is not acceptable.  ArtSpace Herndon and it’s representatives have the right to remove the user and/or any guest of the user that is not following the guidelines for the premises.
• The use of candles and any type of open flame is prohibited.
