The Baldrige criteria has evolved over time and with bi-annual changes, may seem onerous and complicated to comprehend. Our seminar facilitator has developed an "easy-to-grasp" approach to understanding and applying the Baldrige criteria for organizational assessment and improvement.
- The interactive seminar includes practical exercises as well as numerous examples to bring the Baldrige criteria to life. Participants will learn from the vast knowledge and experience of the facilitator as well as work with and learn from other organization's experiences in applying and using the Baldridge criteria.
- This seminar is best suited for those involved with applying the criteria to their organizational assessment, writing a Baldrige-type application, team members or Category leads of an organization's assessment team, leaders of an organization, or anyone that desires a better understanding of the Baldrige criteria without becoming an examiner for a state or national program.
- Many organizations bring several members of an application writing team to actually work on their application as part of the seminar work, and group pricing is noted below. The seminar fee includes a handy workbook and on-line access to all the seminar materials so you can take these back to your organization's for further use.
- Additional facilitator resources will be added based on class size and sector representation.

About Steven Hoisington:
A recognized senior level executive for many years, he was the president of Electro-Motive Diesels Locomotive
Company (EMDLC) in Pretoria, South Africa, vice president of India operations at Caterpillar and EMD Locomotive Technologies Pty. Ltd. in Delhi, India, vice president of quality and reliability at Electro-Motive Diesels, Inc. in LaGrange, Illinois, senior vice president of operations for Exel, Inc.. in Bracknell, United Kingdom, and vice president of quality for Johnson Controls, Inc. in Milwaukee, WI prior to joining Flowserve in 2012. Entering the field in 1979, Mr. Hoisington was hired by IBM as an engineer and progressed his career up to director of quality and customer satisfaction over the next 20 years. He was instrumental in writing IBMs application for the Baldrige National Quality Award and has helped other companies from a variety of sectors write their Baldrige winning applications.
Mr. Hoisington co-authored two books “Customer Centered Six Sigma: Linking Customers, Process Improvement, and Financial Results” and “Implementing Strategic Change: Tools to Transform an Organization”.
Currently serving on the University of Wisconsin-Stout Foundation Board of Directors since 2015, Mr. Hoisington is also the past chairman of the board of directors of the Wisconsin Forward Award and a past board member of the Minnesota Council for Quality. He chaired the Juran Medal committee for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as well as served on the ASQ Medal committee. He served as an examiner and senior examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for the National Institute of Science and Technology from 1993 to 2011. Mr. Hoisington is also a former appointed Judge of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. He has assisted with organizational improvement assessments in New Zealand, India, Europe, Mexico, Canada, and other parts of Asia.

Registration information and group pricing options
Fees are $550 per member, $650 per non member. For those attending in groups of three or four, apply code GROUP3OR4 to receive a $25 discount per person. For those attending in groups of five or more, apply code 5ORMORE to receive a discount of $50 per person. Fee includes a light breakfast, lunch, breaks, seminar materials, and a copy of the 2019-2020 Criteria, (a $30 value). Space is limited. Contact us if you have questions about membership. Cancellation policy: WFA will refund the registration fee less a $25 administrative fee for any participant who cancels registration by February 1, 2020. No refunds can be extended after that date; however, registrations are fully transferable at any time prior to the seminar date. Registrations accepted through February 5, 2020.
