Financial Modeling Seminar 2014 

CFA Society Winnipeg is pleased to announce that Dave Thomas of the Marquee Group is coming to Winnipeg to lead two comprehensive one-day seminars. The first seminar will focus on the construction of an Interactive Financial Model (of a company) and the second on the creation and implemantation of a Discounted Cash Flow Valuation.

Over the course of both interactive seminars, participants will build powerful models that add tremendous value to the decision making process of their organization. These workshops are intended for anyone with intermediate Excel skills who work with financial information on a daily basis, at any level of an organization.

DAY 1 - Building a Financial Model (of a Company)
 
Overview: This hands-on course focuses on the skills required to design and create an interactive financial model of a company that adheres to the highest industry standards. During the seminar, participants will build a model that included a forecast of a company's income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet.
 
The course material includes model design, logic, construction, financial concepts and accounting treatment. Various intermediate Excel tools along with helpful keyboard shortcuts will also be covered throughout the day.

DAY 2 - Discounted Cash Flow Valuation Analysis

Overview: This interactive seminar is focused on the practical implementation of a Discounted Cash Flow Valuation Analysis ("DCF"). A financial model will be created through the use of two commonly known styles in which several factors such as terminal year and terminal year assumptions will be presented, along with critical calculations involving levered and unlevered cash flows, a company's cost of capital and weighted average cost of capital along with the tax impact of un-levering a company's cash flow.

This hands-on course will present powerful Excel tools found in only the most robust DCF analysis and will illustrate how to incorporate the most appropriate ratios and performance metrics. the course materials also discusses the most common errors that financial professionals make when creating a DCF analysis along with several Excel tips and other valuable skills necessary to check and audit a financial model.
