CFA Society Winnipeg May Program Luncheon

As spring approaches CFA Society Winnipeg would like to invite you to our Thursday, May 2nd Luncheon.

Guest Speaker: Mr. Stephen Murchison, Deputy Chief, Canadian Economic Analysis Department, Bank of Canada.

Topic: Modelling Canadian monetary policy in a changing global economy: Lessons learned and outstanding challenges.

Biography: Stephen Murchison was appointed Deputy Chief of the Bank’s Canadian Economic Analysis Department (CEA) in November 2010.  In this capacity, he is part of the senior leadership team that directs and manages the department with a focus on economic projections and the design of the Canadian monetary policy framework. He also plays a significant role in ensuring the effective administration of departmental processes and substitutes for the Chief as required.

Stephen Murchison joined the Bank in 1997 as an Economist within the Canadian Projection and Model Development Division. After spending two years at the Department of Finance, Mr. Murchison returned to the Bank in the Research Department, taking on increasingly challenging roles as Principal Researcher, Assistant Chief and, most recently, as Research Director.

Born in Barrie, Ontario, Mr. Murchison has a masters degree in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
