Workshop description
You need three things to make dramatic black and white (B&W) photos with your DSLR camera: the right tools, the right techniques and the right way of seeing. This workshop will help participants to develop all three.
A combination of theory, demonstrations and hands on exercises, you will be guided, step by step, through the process of making B&W photos from digital files. A few files will be supplied to help students be guided through the process; then everyone will have a chance to work on their own images. My approach stresses the balance between the art and the craft, between the vision and the technique.
Over the last few years B&W photography has, once again, come to the forefront for creative imagemakers. This has led many students to request a workshop like this and to give me their input regarding what they'd like to see in that B&W workshop. I integrated many of those suggestions when designing this workshop.

Things you will need to bring
Participants are welcome to sit and listen to the talks, watch the presentations, and the software demonstrations. However, to get the maximum benefits from the workshop you should bring a laptop computer, either Mac or PC, loaded with Adobe Lightroom® and NIK Silver Efex Pro. Free trial versions of this software are available for download on Adobe and NIK's websites. These versions will suffice for the workshop.
You will need to bring 6 RAW files on a USB key. Contact us if you have any questions about what you require to participate.
