PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Our program this month will be a two part presentation. The first presentation, a 1.0 CE talk on Memory Deficits is sponsored by Rehab Without Walls and will Identify and describe four types of memory; Identify three functional activities to address memory deficits; Identify memory strategies used in the home and community environment
OUR SPEAKERS:
Robyn Weiss, P.T., M.ED, CCM, works with medical professionals to rebuild the lives of clients faced with catastrophic injuries. Specializing in Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury as well as diagnosis in complex neurological and orthopedic cases. Intensive neuro rehab with proven outcomes in PT, OT and SLP. Focus is on reintegration back to home, community, school and work. She also works with pediatric, adolescent, adult and injured worker cases.
Dr. Karyn Baum is Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief Medical Officer for the University of Minnesota. She is also an Affiliated Professor in the School of Public Health. Karyn served in multiple previous roles including the Medical Director of Utilization Management and Executive Medical Director of Patient Flow.
At the national level, she served as the senior consultant with Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington DC, directing their Educating for Quality initiatives nation-wide from 2015-2017.
Karyn is the former Associate Chair for Quality at the University of Minnesota. In addition to overseeing inpatient hospital operations at the 900+ bed University hospital, she teaches quality improvement for the executive Masters in Healthcare Administration program at Minnesota. Dr. Baum earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan, her Masters of Science in Education from the University of Southern California, and her Masters of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota.
