How often do you discuss “spirituality” at home, or at work? How often does “typology” come up? Chances are, no two of us would answer those questions the same way, nor have a ready definition of the two concepts. BAAPT has 30+ years of presentations on typology and hardly any on spirituality, yet the two have been interwoven since Jung’s first publications. Here’s your chance to relate a variety of spiritual experiences to your knowledge of typology.
We’ll begin by defining spirituality for ourselves. Then Rachel and Mark - with the help of facilitators at each table - will lead our exploration.
This program is intended for intermediate and advanced type learners, but new type enthusiasts are always welcome.
For those interested in type and religious experience, Rachel and Mark recommend the following:
Rachel Fitzgerald, PhD is a psychotherapist practicing in Sacramento. She has been studying, training, and applying major personality systems with individuals and groups for over 30 years. She was invited by Mary McCaulley to join the first International Type Qualifying Faculty and to create the first CAPT program on Type and Spirituality. Rachel spent 25 years as a member of a religious community of Sisters and 10 years of teaching in the South American School of Spirituality and Ethics.
Mark Shumway, MA, Psychology, has worked as a mental health counselor and a teacher among diverse populations. He holds credentials in special education and community mental health, and he considers Psychological Type as an accurate map that reveals how individuals construct their worlds. Mark is also a U.S. Navy veteran and a new grandfather.
