OAK WILT PRE-CONFERENCE - February 16, 2015
If your tree management activities include Oak species, this is a 'must-attend' workshop. This comprehensive oak wilt workshop is designed for everyone who manages a single tree up to a large tract of wooded land or geographical area involving tree resources. Don't miss it!
Oak wilt, a lethal and rapidly acting disease of oaks is spreading throughout Michigan at an increasing rate. Oak wilt activity, control efforts and on-going research in MI and the Great Lakes basin will be discussed.
U.S. Forest Service pathologists, MDNR foresters, MSU Extension and utility practitioners will teach oak wilt diagnosis, detection and prevention tactics. Oak wilt management scenarios for public and non-public lands including forest settings, large municipal woodlands, community forests and urban settings will be addressed. The day concludes with a panel discussion with the experts and open-mic to answer your questions.
