PMI La Crosse - Rochester Chapter presents

Progressive Management, Can it Work?

Thursday, April 22, 2021 - Virtual

Session Description:

In July 2020, Olmsted County approved the creation of a new team within Corrections titled the “Diversity, Equity, and Community Outreach Team”. Underneath the umbrella of this team is the Olmsted County Pretrial Services Team and the Community Outreach Specialist Team. Specifically, these two teams collectively work to address disparity and disproportionality within our community. This presentation will explore some of the “newness” of becoming a program/project manager and the challenges that sometimes brings, namely around change to systems that maybe not all agree with. During this presentation we will explore how to effectively develop new programs and initiatives that will then be implemented and used across multi-systems and partnerships. The implementation of a new program or project is only as good as the collective efforts it takes to bring a program or project from concept to fruition. Though this can be daunting and intimidating feat, it can be done effectively to yield positive outcomes for all involved!

About the Speaker:

Nikki Niles is the newest Program Manager within the Corrections Department at Olmsted County. She supervises staff on the Olmsted County Pretrial Services Team and the new Olmsted County Community Outreach Specialist Team. Nikki built both these initiatives from the ground up, both of which have so far yield positive success in the community. Nikki obtained her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, her master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. Nikki has 10 years’ experience as police officer and her focus as the manager of the Diversity, Equity, and Community Outreach Team is to reach marginalized communities within our area to close the gaps on disparate and disproportionate variants affected by those communities.
