A Season with the Blue Stars, Step by Step

April 15, 2015 - La Crosse, WI PMI Dinner Meeting 

Session Description:  The La Crosse Blue Stars is one of the best drum and bugle corps in the world, performing and competing on the elite Drum Corps International tour. The 200-plus member group travels 14,000 miles on 11 vehicles, serves 80,000+ meals, visits 45 cities, and entertains hundreds of thousands of fans each summer. 

In this behind-the-scenes look at running an elite, performing arts non-profit, you will learn about the challenges and lessons of planning, executing, and funding the experience of a lifetime for 150 young adults.

Speaker: Brad Furlano began his involvement with the Blue Stars when he joined the corps in 1982 as a 10-year-old. After aging out of the corps in 1993, he served in a variety of capacities, including Visual Caption Head, Drill Designer, and Program Coordinator, among others. In 2003 Brad served as the corps' Interim Director, and he became the organization's full-time executive director in 2006. 

Brad graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1996. He has held numerous corporate positions, including Manger of Retail Communications for Best Buy Co., Inc.; Manager of Internal Communications for Amerprise Financial; and Manger of Retail Communications for Eddie Bauer, Inc.

  • 6:15 p.m. – Presentation

Menu List: Build your own hamburger/chicken sandwich with homemade chips and dips. Served with your choice of beverage and a variety of desserts.

Dress Code:  The PMI La Crosse - Rochester Chapter does not have a policy for dress code and trusts its attendees to dress appropriately.  Business casual dress is certainly acceptable attire at events and workshops.
