Ke Kahua O Kualiii is working with State Parks to cleanup, and revitalize a portion of Kawainui for public use. We want to see Kawainui being used by the community as a place to learn about Hawaii and the culture of Hawaii and to do that, we need the help of volunteers, lots of volunteers! Keiki are welcome but please note that there is no bathroom facility on site. Arrive a few minutes early to park and sign-in upon arrival.
Please Bring:
· Water bottle (we will have a water jug to re-fill bottles)
· Covered toe shoes (Tennis shoes, hiking shoes or rubber boots)
· Long pants & long sleeve shirt
· Sun hat or baseball cap
· Gloves (we will also have some available)
· Sunscreen
· Mosquito repellent
· Aloha for the aina
Come with a sense of mindfulness and to please leave all valuable at home. We haven't had any problems and we are being proactive to keep it a positive space with awesome experiences only.
*DIRECTIONS:
From Mokapu Blvd. turn onto Kapaa Quarry Road. Travel 1.6 miles on Kapaa Quarry Road (past the model airplane park, the Transfer Station, up the hill, and immediately after Na Pohaku O Hauwahine on the ocean side for a small driveway, with a bright yellow gate with orange cones inside the gate. NOTE: You are not at the correct site if you are parking on the main road and hiking/looking up a hill (that is a hiking trail). You will know you at the correct site when you drive through yellow gate with orange cones inside the gate. If the gate is locked, just wait in front of the yellow gate with orange cones inside the gate. Enter through the yellow gate with orange cones inside the gate and follow the dirt road down the hill for parking.
